The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) is one of the most vibrant
departments of the Government of Goa, striving for access, equity, quality,
affordability, and accountability, which are the foundations of the National
Education Policy 2020.
In addition to its regulatory functions, the DHE also
provides funding and academic and administrative support for research,
innovation, and academic development in higher education institutions and
University in the state.
Goa's higher education map is rapidly changing, and it is dotted with 68
Colleges/institutes and many institutes of national importance. About 25000
young students in Goa seek admission in higher education under the mentorship
of 2500 teachers with a 10:1 student-teacher ratio. Goa has better access to
higher education in rural and urban areas, and its accessibility is higher than the
national average.
Government of Goa has now opened the higher educational gates to private
universities to attract eminent foreign universities/campuses in the state. The
state’s vision is to become a national education hub and global destination for
education along with tourism.
